Team Members

Joshua Kimani Joshua Kimani Joshua was born and brought up in Nairobi, Kenya. He hosts the Survival Phrases, All About and Advanced Audio Blog series for SwahiliPod101.com. He is a graduate of Strathmore University in Nairobi and has an affiliate degree from Oxford Brookes University in the UK. He enjoys the African wilderness and is currently an East African safari tour operator.
Medina Bushuru Maraka Oiko Medina Bushuru Maraka Oiko A Kenyan by birth and a Ugandan by marriage, Medina is an IT graduate from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in Kenya. She also holds a diploma in Business English. She has worked as a computer and Swahili instructor in Uganda. She’s now a devoted English-Swahili translator at Innovative Language Learning. Medina is very passionate about public speaking, and is a very active member of Toastmasters International, in which she has won various awards. She is also cultivating her interest in writing, and can speak English, Swahili, Luo and Luhya, and is now learning Japanese. She is currently pursuing a bachelors degree in Liberal Arts and Theology at Tokyo Christian University, Japan.
John Amari John Amari John is a Ugandan-born freelance writer from the United Kingdom. He has also lived in Kenya and Japan. John speaks English and Luo, and conversational Swahili and Japanese. Graduating with a degree in history from the University of London, he worked in the civil service in London before teaching English in Japan. He currently researches and writes on a number of topics including intellectual property, branding, business and international development.
Mark Kariuki Mark Kariuki Mark was born in Kenya and is a native speaker of Swahili and teaches Swahili abroad. He’s very happy to help those who want to learn Swahili, which is the most popular and widely spoken language in the Eastern African region, at SwahiliPod101.com.
Diana Diana Born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, Diana is a graduate of the University of Nairobi and is a native Swahili speaker. She has been a customer relations manager for many years and enjoys interacting with people, serving them, and sharing her knowledge. In addition to Swahili, Diana also speaks fluent English, as well as a bit of French. When not working, she is likely to be writing, fellowshipping, or researching topics that have tugged at her curiosity.
Maryann Maryann Maryann was born and raised in Kenya. She moved to Japan towards the end of 2019 to pursue a degree in Economics. Maryann enjoys watching movies and uses them as a tool to practice different accents. She also enjoys watching Japanese dramas on Netflix to improve her Japanese skills.
